Paige A. Martin

November 27, 1951 - July 17, 2009


Paige passed over on July 17, 2009 in Summerfield, Ohio. She was born November 27, 1951 in Pittsburgh, PA. She obtained an A.B., Psychology from Wellesley College in Massachusetts and graduated in 1978 from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. On November 20, 1978 she was admitted to Ohio Supreme Court. December 20, 1978 she was admitted to U.S. District Court of North District of Ohio; December 13, 1990 she was admitted to U.S. Claims Court, Washington D.C. and May, 1998 was admitted to United States Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit.


She taught Business Law at Cuyahoga Community College, Negotiations and Client Skills as Adjunct Faculty at Case Western Reserve Law School. She also taught first and third year law students appellate advocacy skills through the Moot Court Program.

She received the Merit Service Award from the Greater Cleveland Bar Association in 1982-83, Award of Merit from the Ohio Legal Center Institute. In 1987 she received the Outstanding Young American Woman Award and in 1991-1998 she was featured in Who's Who in American Law.

Paige Martin trained over 80 lawyers in the special skills needed to work with the terminally ill in the Hospice Program, pioneered through the Cleveland Bar Association in the early 80's, incorporating for the first time volunteer attorneys as a team member in the inter-disciplinary team which served the hospice community's needs.

1985-2009 - She was a founder of the Learning Center for Human Development, a nonprofit international organization, offering programs to assist people in their personal growth, environmental awareness, and in their relationship to the global community. She dedicated her life and work to assisting others less fortunate.

She is survived by her parents, Rev. Mildred and Rev. James Martin Jr., brothers, Neil, Ken and Clifford, sister Hattie, three nieces, five nephews, three grand-nephews, five grand-nieces and hundreds of friends and international associates.
